PARADISO I

Paradiso I is the first of a series of three Persian style blossoms and a pomegranate, all worked in a more contemporary palette of blues and taupes. The foundation drawings are full of movement, lending a lightness and modern feel to a design of ancient, traditional elements. A study in heightened relief, the various motifs are padded and worked with stitches chosen to provide a diversity of textures.
Worked on Crewel Works linen twill in 8 shades
of Appleton Brothers Crewel yarn and
took approximately 57 hours to complete.

THE DUSK SUNFLOWER

The Dusk Sunflower is an attempt to capture the top heavy, late summer weight of the magnificent Russian sunflower blossom with its grace and compexity. Special attention was given to the play of light on the layers of petals.
Worked on Legacy Plantation Linen in 17 shades of Appleton Brothers Crewel yarn
and took approximately 85 hours to complete..
